Mason Razavi

San Jose, California, United States of America

About Mason Razavi

Hailing from California's beautiful San Jose Bay Area (you hear that San Francisco?!), Mason loves Sharks hockey, occasional earthquakes, perfectly moderate weather year-round, modest $1 million housing, the nation's second highest gas prices behind Hawaii, movie star governors, Google, Apple, Yahoo, Ebay, and the big poop statue downtown. Needless to say, he had to endure a bit of culture shock when he moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music, where he voluntarily buried himself in piles of snow as well as insurmountable student loan debt so that he could learn how to write music with funny sounding chords. He has amassed a great deal of knowledge from Berklee and his own personal experiences, and his financial loss is your gain! Mason started out as a self-taught guitarist, downloading guitar tabs to Nirvana songs and learning how to bang them out on the guitar his dad bought him from Costco. Soon thereafter he began to form bands, playing mostly terrible-sounding renditions of 90's alternative rock tunes. His musical palette exploded in his high school guitar class, where he learned the G chord. This would serve a good warm up for playing in the school's jazz bands in the following years. Soon thereafter he played in the world's greatest punk band called "The Proles", and began his own bands as well. His original project went through several incarnations and name changes, while a cover band called "The Escorts" was working all over the Bay Area, playing classic rock covers in exchange for money, alcohol and rock and roll glory. Eventually his band playing original music grew to become the A.M. Project, who cut a record and played numerous gigs around the Bay Area before disbanding when Mason went on to Berklee in 2003. Using the last sentence of the previous paragraph to transition to this one, Mason attended Berklee and majored in Contemporary Writing and Production, which is a big fancy way of saying that if you want music for a dog food commercial, he can totally handle it. While there Mason was a founding member of Black Betty and the Bad Habits, winners of the inaugural Ryan J. Lariviere battle of the bands. After doing extensive performing and recording around New England, the band recorded their album "Voodoo Man", produced by industry stalwart Bob Yen Jr. Mason has a plethora of experience as a performer, session guitarist, composer, and arranger. His most personally rewarding experiences aside from recording "Voodoo Man" were composing, arranging, conducting, and producing his pieces for orchestra and string orchestra, as well as conducting his contemporary jazz piece "Luck Has Nothing to Do With It" with a 13-piece band at the Berklee Performance Center in a concert featuring outstanding student compositions. Currently, Mason is a professional internet superstar, heading up this website with Kristian Habenicht and Dan Jayo while also contributing as a blogger and video blogger for Chompboard.com, a San Jose Sharks fan forum. Mason plays ice and roller hockey, is hopelessly in love with his girlfriend Sara, and never misses a Sharks game.
